Beatrice Mabry Galphin FUQUAY VARINA, NC- Mrs. Beatrice "Bea" Mabry Galphin, 95, formerly of Holly Hill, SC passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Samuel Perdrieau Galphin, Sr., loving mother of her daughter, Rev. Lillian Wells Galphin of Fuquay Varina, NC; sons, Samuel Perdrieau (Shelley Smith) Galphin, Jr., D.V.M. of Raleigh, NC, and Claude Mabry (Virginia "Ginny" Dolder) Galphin, M.D. of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; cherished grandmother of, Samuel Perdrieau (Kristin Fleenor) Galphin, III, Shannon Wells (Richard) Knott, Benjamin "Ben" Smith Galphin, Kathryn Beatrice Galphin, Mary Frances Galphin, Sarah Mabry Galphin; and great grandchildren, Lillian Grace Galphin, and Abigail Rose Galphin. She is also survived by her caring sister, Marion (the late W.W.) Tisdale of Bishopville, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 1 pm. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Corinth Baptist Church, Vance, SC. Visitation to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Galphin was born May 19, 1915 in Greenwood, SC to the late Herman Watson Mabry and the late Janie Lee Davenport. A graduate of Greenwood High School and Lander University, she was a retired school teacher. Miss Bea was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, the Ivy Garden Club, and the Art Guild. She was a woman with a wonderful sense of humor who loved her family and friends. Hospitality was her gift. Miss Bea's home was open to others where good food and a warm welcome were always offered. She was an accomplished artist, seamstress, and cook. She enjoyed needlework- knitting and crocheting. Memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, P.O. Box 69, Vance, SC 29163.
