Audis "Chuck" Martin

EUTAW SPRINGS, SC - Audis Hugo "Chuck" Martin, 85, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 in Roper Hospital in Charleston. He was born April 20, 1932 in Eutaw Springs, SC, a son of the late William McKinley Martin and Eloise Ellen Peagler Martin. Mr. Martin was a US Navy veteran, and retired from Santee Portland Cement Company in Holly Hill. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Eutawville and was a past president of the Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a dirt track racecar driver in his younger days. He loved attending bluegrass festivals, dearly loved his family, and was a mentor to many. Survivors include sons, Audis "Marty" (Sharen) Martin, Jr. and Mike (Diane) Martin, both of Eutawville, Steve (Sherrie) Martin of Swansea, SC; daughter Vicki Ellen Martin of Charleston; grandchildren, Audis "Skeeter" Martin, III and Gene Martin, both of Charleston, Kipp (Ashley) Martin of Lexington, Kayla Martin of Orangeburg, Jason (Amy) Canaday of Grover, Jacob Audis Canaday Lane Martin of Walterboro; great-grandchildren Jackson, Cooper, Clay Canaday and Jase Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Grace Brinson Martin. He is also survived by his loving rescue dog, Oscar. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 25 at the First Baptist Church, Eutawville, Revs. Jeff Johnson and Preston Cravey officiating. Burial will follow in Eutawville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 484, Eutawville, SC 29048 or the SPCA, 500 Cypress Gardens Rd, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
