Sylvia J Strickland

September 30, 1942 — March 30, 2021

Sylvia Jean Strickland, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, March 30th 2021. Her journey began on September 31, 1942 in Conway, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Huey and Elsie Johnson. She was one of seven children, three sisters, Doris Rhodes, Marilyn Causey, and Barbra Cooper, three brothers Mike Johnson, Sammy Johnson and preceded in death; Jimmy Johnson. She was married to the love of her life, the late Billy Strickland and together had four children, Melinda (Bill) McAlhaney, Johnny Strickland, Billy (Ellen) Strickland, and preceded in death; Tanya (Todd) Roberts. She was the loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A special thank you to her best friend, Sandra, and Ms. Nora and Ms. Sue for taking care of her for the past few years and a even bigger thank you to Richard Smoak for doing her hair and making her feel and look beautiful on the inside and out every Tuesday and Friday. She loved y’all very much.

Sylvia and Billy owned and ran several businesses throughout the state, but were best known for Stricks One Stop in Eutawville, South Carolina.

Everyone knew her as “Mrs. Strick,” a strong, beautiful women with a kind heart and who absolutely adored her family, friends, and husband. Her strength was unlike anyone else. She kept her family thriving and was always there for those who needed help, guidance, or just a shoulder to cry on. Her memory will forever be apart of us and we will hold her close to our hearts until we can hold her again in Heaven. We love you. We miss you. Until we meet again, our sweet angel.
