Richard S. Geiter, Sr. SANTEE - Richard "Dick" Sherman Geiter, Sr., 89, of Santee, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Frances, his adoring daughter, Deb, his son-in-law, Jeff, and his sister-in-law, Lavinia. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jerusalem United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Fleming and Pastor Bryan Fields officiating. Military honors will be rendered. Burial will be private. Mr. Geiter was born in Lancaster, PA, a son of the late James F. "Ted" Geiter and Elizabeth Miller Geiter. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Geiter attended Jerusalem United Methodist Church and the gatherings of the Methodist Men at the church. He was accomplished in woodworking, making furniture, precious toys for the Salvation Army, as well as carving various birds for family and friends. Mr. Geiter had worked at J.L. Clark, Queen Dairy, and retired from Kresge Beauty Supply-all in Lancaster, PA. He enjoyed traveling, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Elizabeth Geiter. Surviving are his wife, Frances Jones Bowers Geiter of Santee; daughters, Pat Koser (Gary) of Lancaster, PA, and Debra Cila (Jeff) of Santee; sons, Richard "Dick" Geiter, Jr. (Jane) of Lancaster, PA, and David Geiter (Terry) of Milwaukee, WI; sisters Anne Talbot, Lucille Zipp and June Wilson, all of Lancaster, PA; grandchildren, Ryan Koser, Nicole Koser, Elizabeth Cila, Samantha Cila, Larry Cila, Brad Geiter, Michael Geiter, Jeremy Geiter, and Stacie (Bryan) Ennis; great-grand children, Fiona, Bethany, and Zoe Geiter, and Austin and Avery Ennis, Samuel Geiter; step-son, Jim Bowers (Michelle) of Mt. Pleasant; step-grandchildren, Candice Bowers and Jamison Bowers of Mt. Pleasant, and step-great grandchild, Jaycee Bowers. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Jerusalem United Methodist Church, PO Box 366, Elloree, SC 29047.
