Mrs. Mary D. Shuler ORANGEBURG - Mrs. Mary Deaton Shuler, 92, of the Methodist Oaks, Orangeburg, and formerly of Elloree, widow of Henry Glenn Shuler, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Jerusalem United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be afterwards in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Shuler was born in Mooresville, NC, a daughter of the late James Marshall Deaton and Zula Cashion Deaton. She was a member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Methodist Women, and the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. A life member of the Elloree Garden Club, Mrs. Shuler was a former teller at the Bank of Elloree, and also worked at Shuler's Shoe Shop. An avid gardener, she always put the needs of others first. This was evident in the care given to her family, church, and friends. Surviving are sons, Dr. Donald W. Shuler (Mary Jane) of York, and Robert G. "Bobby" Shuler (Debra) of Elloree; a sister, Ruth Stafford of Troutman, NC; grandchildren, Elizabeth Shuler LeBlanc (Joe), Harriet Shuler, John Shuler, William Shuler, Andy Edgemon, and Daniel Shuler; and a great-grandson, John Robert LeBlanc. Friends may call at the Bobby Shuler home in Elloree. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jerusalem UMC building fund, PO Box 366, Elloree, SC 29047.
