Launa Rogers Smith

Launa Rogers Smith, 77, of Eutawville, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill, with the Rev. John Scott officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Roebuck Baptist Church Cemetery in Roebuck. Ms. Smith was born July 11, 1933, in Spartanburg, the daughter of the late Louis Marion Rogers and Grace Cobb Rogers. She was a graduate of Limestone College and earned her master's degree at the University of South Carolina. Ms. Smith was a teacher and librarian in the South Carolina public school system. She is survived by her best friend and caretaker, Barbara Gilliard of Eutawville. Memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648-1178.
