John Hill Comstock

John H. Comstock SANTEE - Mr. John Hill Comstock, 86, of Santee, husband of Grace Anderson Comstock, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill with Rev. Michael E. Murdoch officiating. Mr. Comstock was born on April 23, 1926 in Clayville, Rhode Island, a son of Vera and Warren Comstock. He served in the Army during World War II 1943 until 1945. He then returned to Coventry High School where he graduated in 1946, and then attended Edgewood Junior College. He had 30 year career with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon in Washington. Upon retirement he moved to Santee, SC where he resided at Bradford Village. A lifetime member of the VFW, he was an avid golfer, and was Baptized as a Baptist in 1948 in Rhode Island. He was preceded in death by a brother Larry Comstock. Surviving are his wife of 65 years of Santee; a son, Warren George Comstock and his wife Lucy of Manning; sister, Corrine Amadon of Clayville, RI; a granddaughter, Nikita Comstock of Anchorage, Alaska; grandsons, Joshua Comstock (Christina) of Fayetteville, NC, John Hill Comstock III (Amanda) of Clarksville, VA, Brandon Prevost (Jennifer) of Manning, and Brent Prevost of Manning; and 3 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Hannah and Joshua Comstock. www.avingerfh.com
