SANTEE - Mrs. Joan Anne Wyman Wolpert, 72, of Santee, wife of Harry E. Wolpert, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at her home. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Common Ground Church in Eutawville. The family will receive friends before and after the service at the church. Mrs. Wolpert was born April, 13, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Frederick T. Wyman, Sr. and Anna Archibald Wyman. She grew up in Philadelphia and graduated with honors from Olney High School in 1960, and later attended the Baptist College in Charleston, SC. She was Phila's "Miss Firecheck" and Queen of Olney, as well as Marine Corps Queen in 1958. She married Harry E. Wolpert in 1961. She formerly worked as a secretary at Walworth Farms, Trident Hospital, R.B. Drake Forestry Service, and was a former rural mail carrier in Vance and Eutawville. A Sunday School Teacher most of her adult life, she volunteered in a pregnancy care center and attended Common Ground Church in Eutawville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Tamara "Tammy" and her husband, Robbie Griffin of Mebane, NC; sons, Gary Wolpert and his wife, Patricia of Holly Hill, Robert Wolpert and his wife Anne-Catherine Phoenix, AZ, and Thomas "Tommy" Wolpert and his wife, Renee of Eutawville; a brother, Frederick T. Wyman, Jr. of Charleston; 13 grandchildren, Amanda Wolpert Weatherford (Troy), Paul Wolpert (Sherry), Ana?s Wolpert, Julian Wolpert, Ailana Wolpert, John Wolpert, T.J. Wolpert, Jonah Wolpert, Anna Grace Wolpert, Eli Wolpert, Rebeca Fe Wolpert, Ax Harrison Wolpert and Karina Esther (Essie) Wolpert; two step-grandchildren, Logan Griffin and Zachery Griffin; two great-grandchildren, Hanna Weatherford, and Bryson Wolpert. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Common Ground Church, PO Box 10, Eutawville, SC 29048.
