HOLLY HILL - James Lamar "Slim" Day, 57, husband of Becky Day, passed away on March 12th in a Columbia hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Lamar was an employee of Holcim Cement for 38 years. He enjoyed piloting his own airplane, riding his Harley and riding in his '55 Chevy. Lamar was a "jack of all trades". There wasn't anything that he couldn't fix or "rig". He enjoyed being on the pit crew of his buddies' drag racing team and plowing his garden on his John Deere tractor. Lamar is survived by his wife, Becky; a daughter, Rebecca Day (Tyler) Crook of St. George, mother, Mary Lee Bilton Day Parker of Eutawville, and a brother, Rutledge (Carolyn) Day of Holly Hill. A memorial service will be 7pm Thursday, March 15 at Avinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Stiltz officiating. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home prior to the memorial service. Memorials may be made to Gerizim United Methodist Church, 165 Four Horse Ln., Vance, SC 29163.
