SANTEE - Ethel Donnelly, 91, formerly of Staten Island, NY, died peacefully in Santee, SC Wednesday, October 9th. She relocated to Santee, South Carolina five years ago. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 7 p.m. this Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill, SC with a service at 7 p.m. A fourth generation Staten Island native, Ethel was born and raised in the West Brighton section of Staten Island. She worked as a nurse's aide and a private nanny. After marriage she settled in Tottenville, NY where she and her late husband raised their family. Ethel was a homemaker. She was active in the auxiliary of the Beauvais-Hudson American Legion Post #123 and the auxiliary of the South Shore Little League; which her late husband was a founding member. She was a loving mother who was devoted to her family. She was adored by everyone she touched in her life. She loved spending time with her large family, relatives and friends. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano and sewing. She especially enjoyed sewing quilts for her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Charles, and a daughter, Patricia Hogan. She is survived by sons, Charles, Jr. and Harold; daughters: Ethel Lyn Keiser, Debra Ciccone, Dale Fasano and Gale Hartie; 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren; a sister: Doris Demenchuk, and a brother: George Bender. A funeral service will be Friday the 18th from Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, followed by burial in The Cemetery of The Resurrection, Staten Island, NY.
