Claude Smith

RIDGEVILLE - Henry Claude Smith, 85, of the Sandridge Community, husband of Jean Rudd Smith, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at his home. All services will be private. Claude was born in Eutawville, a son of the late John Capers Smith and Bower Russell Smith. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and retired as shop foreman at the Wells Crossroads location of the SC Dept. of Transportation. Claude enjoyed hunting and fishing and he dearly loved his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandsons. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tammy Aikman of Sandridge; a son, Clyde (Billie) Smith of Holly Hill; sisters, Mattie Beatty of Holly Hill and Dorothy Bethune of Orangeburg; a brother, Bill Smith of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren, Ember Smith of Elloree, and T.C. Aikman of Sandridge; great-grandsons, Caleb Bunch and Jantzen Rudd, both of Elloree. Memorials may be made to Holly Hill Academy, PO Box 757, Holly Hill, SC 29059.
