Bower S. Gibson

EUTAWVILLE- Mrs. Bower Smith Gibson, 91, of Eutawville, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at her home. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Eutawville Cemetery with Rev. Roy Guild and Rev. Philip Rorabaugh officiating. Mrs. Gibson was born in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late John Morrison Smith and Bower Russell Smith. She was a graduate of Eutawville High School, and retired as a tower operator from the SC Forestry Commission. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of Bethlehem Southern Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter Lib G. Cross, and was the widow of Ray G. Gibson, Sr. Surviving are a son, Ray G. Gibson, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Eutawville; sisters, Mattie Beatty of Holly Hill, and Dot Bethune of Orangeburg; brothers, Claude Smith of Sandridge, and Billy Smith of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren, Danny Cross of Orangeburg, Melissa Hoskins of Lexington, and Timothy Gibson of Holly Hill; great-grandchildren, Emily and Riley Gibson, Brittany Cross, and Devon Rae and Bailey Hoskins; and a great-great-granddaughter, Abigail Cross.
